“My Love”

Talking to a friend today, Jill Scott’s 2007 release “The Real Thing: Words and Sounds, Vol. 3” came up during the conversation. There was much discussion among the Jill Scott fans upon this album’s debut because it was definitely more grownup than the others. My friend called the album her sexiest; I called it soft porn. Together we decided it should have been titled “Acoustic Porn: Words and Sounds, Vol. 3.” She didn’t ask us, though, and I suppose there’s a reason for that. Her fourth studio album, “The Light of the Sun: Words and Sounds, Vol. 4,” is scheduled to come out late spring/early summer. Listening to her describe the creative process of this album, I’m anxious to hear the finished product since “Acoustic Porn” had hits and misses to me, unlike her other works. “My Love” is definitely one of that album’s hits for me. It’s the thoughts I had about a couple past relationships but hadn’t put together such words to sing it. That was then. This is now. C’est la vie, right?
