And the Winner Is …

Following up on a post and article from back in January, I wrote about the NAACP Image Awards nominations that disappointed me most. One of the nominees, sadly, the Michael Jackson memorial service one best in its category, Outstanding Variety. Thankfully, I suppose, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” beat out “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” for the best reality series. “Precious” got a lot of shine. And just about every category in which Tyler Perry was nominated, he won. It’s wonderful being him. Maybe not.

The folks over at We are Respectable Negroes say:

… on Friday, February 26, 2010, respectable negroes lost another engagement with the forces of coonery, black debasement, and poor taste. Tyler “Manchurian Candidate of Black Pathology and Moon Cricket Tomfoolery” Perry wins and Black folk lose–again.

They also posted this video of Spike Lee talking about coonery and buffoonery with Ed Gordon.

When do we stop talking about making things better and take steps toward betterment? Just wondering.
