Some of These Things Aren’t Like the Others

Ebony magazine asked in April 1952, “Which is Negro? Which is White?”

What are your guesses? (I didn’t find the actual answers, and Michael Jackson said it didn’t matter if you were black or white but he would say that, wouldn’t he? I think it might matter, so just in case, let’s try to figure it out.)

  1. I’m trying to “read their nose” but that’s virtually impossible. Some have thin noses but still look black some have wide noses and still look white. Here’s my stab at it. First row, left to right All black
    Second row, left to right Wht, blk, wht, blk
    Third row, left to right All white
    Last row, Left to right Black wht wht wht

    • Hmmm … We agree about some, not about others.

      I’ll tell you what I think shortly. Let’s see what a few other people think.
